Meet Gary Lincoff for a pre-foray walk at Cook Forest State Park.

The 8,500-acre Cook Forest State Park lies in scenic northwestern Pennsylvania. Once called the “Black Forest,” the area is famous for its stands of old growth forest. Cook Forest’s “Forest Cathedral” of towering white pines and hemlocks is a National Natural Landmark.

Meet at North Park Swimming pool parking lot at 7.45am. The bus will leave for Cook Forest at 8am sharp! Morning walk with world renowned mycologist Gary Lincoff. Return to the bus for a short drive to a local restaurant for lunch.  Afternoon walk with a park ranger to visit the “Forest Cathedral” of towering white pines and hemlocks. Leave Cook State Forest at 4pm, returning to North park at 6pm. The bus is state of the art with contoured reclining seats and armrests, A/C,  and lavatory.  Bus trip include box or restaurant lunch. Alternatively meet us at Cook Forest  at approximately 10am,  bring you own lunch and join in the activities. The number of seats on the bus is limited so sign up now!

Sometimes the address and location information for a meeting point is not 100% accurate. Some parks and meeting point do not have a street address so it is difficult to program the map to point to the exact location. We request that no one hunts a walk or foray location for at least two weeks prior to a walk or foray. It is only through your cooperation that we can have successful walks and forays. All walks & forays will be held rain or shine. Come 15-30 min early and socialize. All walks start on time, so be early, if you are late we will already be in the woods. If you are a club member and have already joined our Facebook Group you can find last minute additions or changes there.
