Scutellinia subhirtella

Description

Common Name: Orange Eyelash Cup

 A small light orange to red eyelash cup. Found in abundant numbers on very rotten damp logs in the autumn. We used to think that this species was Scutellinia setosa but the spores have small warts. Another identifying feature is the length of the eyelashes, or Poils, and also if there is any branching at the base of the Poils This species has previously only been found in Europe.
