The annual and slightly delayed boat trip to Sycamore Island with Allegheny Land Trust and WPMC was a great success. Sycamore Island never fails to disappoint mushrooms wise and there were a number of rarely observed species found on the island this year. The big find was Lycogala conicum a conical relative of wolfs milk slime mold (Lycogala epidendrum). This is the first observation of the species in PA that has been recorded on iNaturalist. It is also a very pretty species. Another rarely found species is Osteina obducta (Bone Polypore). Final one of note was Volvariella bombycina that was high up a tree, well spotted!
