  • The samples numbers are in the form WPMCYYMMDD-x-y Where: YY=Year, MM=Month, DD=Day, x=kit number, y=sample number
    For example if it is Friday 18th October 2013 and you have kit 2 the first specimen of the day would be WPMC131018-2-1
  • The name(s) of the person(s) who cllected the sample.
  • MM slash DD slash YYYY
  • Select the fungi description form that will be used to annotate the sample.
  • Ecology

  • Common or Latin names are accepted.For example Oak and Wild Cherry or Quercus rubra
    caespitose = growing in dense tufts
  • Can be Latin or common name
  • Location

  • If there are multiple walks, for example at the Lincoff foray enter the number here.
  • Park name, nearest town, etc
  • Park, garden, virgin forest, playground etc
  • GPS Coordinates

    If you have the GPS Coordinates please enter them. If not we will be able to determine close values from the address.
  • Please enter a number from -90 to 90.
    In “degrees.decimal degrees” format
  • Please enter a number from -180 to 180.
    In “degrees.decimal degrees” format
  • In meters

    Clublike, Cantharellaceae, Tooth, Jelly Fungi and Allies

  • Sequestrate Fungi Description Form

    Provide notes and circle as many of the characters from grouped character sets as appropriate.
  • Names(s) of person(s) annotaing the specimens, may be different form the collectors.
  • General characteristics

    (write range of dimensions in mm for multiple specimens)
    Farinaceous = mealy or cucumbers or watermelon rind
    Other smells include Foetid-Russula odor, Fishy (Shrimp), anise, spermatic (very natural, earthy or intense), Phenolic, almond, apricots, bleach, swamp gas or coal tar, green corn, garlic and foul.Over 70 differnet smells have been listed as key indicators.

    Stipitate means having a stipe or stem.
    In cross-section.
    Abhymenium is the opposite to the spore-bearing surface.
    Fibrillose means covered with hair-like appendages. Hygrophanous means that it changes color when losing moisture.
  • Color

    Note color gradations, spots, streaks, bruising, reaction, changes with age. Please use the The Online Auction Color Chart included with the kit or a standard reference, like the Methuen Hnadbook of Colour, to describe the colors.
