Beginner friendly mushroom and nature hike with WPMC Identifier Cherie Cornmesser. Meet at the Carpenter Log House parking lot in Plum.
Cherie will lead an approximately 2 mile walk to observe the fungi and wildlife of Boyce park. The trail is suitable for all levels of hikers. The trail is among tall trees with several microbiomes. This trail is mostly level with some short but not steep hill climbs and descents. There may be some muddy areas and there is one very short stream crossing on stepping stones where you may get your feet a little damp.Comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty are all that is needed. Trekking poles or walking sticks may be helpful for those who want a little extra stability.
The walk will be very suitable for those who prefer a slower pace. It takes us several hours to complete the loop. There are trail options for those who would like a longer or more challenging hike. This trail is not ADA accessible but the walk is otherwise inclusive for all ages and abilities. Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome as well. Insect/tick repellent is recommended.
We will not be foraging or discussing edibility on this walk. Trail Map-We will be following a slightly modified route. Note the meeting place is not at the start/stop indicated on this map.
