Frick Environmental Center’s Earth Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, has been cancelled due to public health concerns. Mayor Bill Peduto, in accordance with recommendations from the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC), has banned public gatherings of more than 50 people within the city of Pittsburgh. Additionally, the White House has asked gatherings of 10 or more people to be suspended through May 10.
It is uncertain whether we will be able to reschedule the Earth Day celebration for a future date.
Updated messages regarding public health measures Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is taking regarding COVID-19 can be found on this webpage.
This year’s Earth Day at Frick Park will take place on Saturday, April 25, with THREE mushroom walks throughout the day: 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. WPMC Mycologist Jim Tunney will lead at least one of these walks. The event is also part of City Nature Challenge, so make sure you post your observations to iNaturalist!

Sometimes the address and location information for a meeting point is not 100% accurate. Some parks and meeting point do not have a street address so it is difficult to program the map to point to the exact location. We request that no one hunts a walk or foray location for at least two weeks prior to a walk or foray. It is only through your cooperation that we can have successful walks and forays. All walks & forays will be held rain or shine. Come 15-30 min early and socialize. All walks start on time, so be early, if you are late we will already be in the woods. If you are a club member and have already joined our Facebook Group you can find last minute additions or changes there.
