WPMC MEMBERS ONLY Pop-Up Halloween Walk at Grindstone Run in McConnell’s Mill State Park during the Fall Continental MycoBlitz. Join WPMC Mycologist Cara Coulter and WPMC Identifier Dawn Wehman for a Halloween mushroom hike. Costumes are welcome.
There is no charge for this walk, but it is limited to WPMC members only, due to limited parking. The parking location will be roadside at approximately 1109 Mountville Rd Portersville PA 16051. Park at your own risk. Rain or shine, please dress accordingly. This hike includes several steep hills and therefore is considered “difficult terrain”.
WPMC will be participating in the Fall Continental MycoBlitz 2024 at this time, collecting specimens for potential DNA sequencing. Members are encouraged to download and join iNaturalist, visit https://mycota.com/continental-mycoblitz/ and join the Project “Fall Continental MycoBlitz 2024” prior to October 27. Slips will be provided at the walk for anyone who has not pre-generated slips.

Sometimes the address and location information for a meeting point is not 100% accurate. Some parks and meeting point do not have a street address so it is difficult to program the map to point to the exact location. Click on the link for any additional driving directions and meeting point information to McConnells Mills State Park - Mountville Rd.
We request that no one hunts a walk or foray location for at least two weeks prior to a walk or foray. It is only through your cooperation that we can have successful walks and forays. All walks & forays will be held rain or shine. Come 15-30 min early and socialize. All walks start on time, so be early, if you are late we will already be in the woods. If you are a club member and have already joined our Facebook Group you can find last minute additions or changes there.
