This particular BioBlitz will run from 5:00am-5:00pm on Sunday, June 5th in areas of Schenley Park surround Phipps Conservatory and Panther Hollow. During this event, experts, will work together with the public to inventory and document all living organisms observed in the park. In addition to the biological survey, a number of tours are planned and there will be a free festival taking place at the Conservatory that will host a variety of community activities, presentations and demonstrations for guests of all ages to participate in.

Full details about the days events are available on the Phipps website including an event listing and map. WPMC will have a table manned by Mycologist La Monte Yarroll and other club members. The WPMC currently plan to identify mushrooms throughout the day.

The meeting point for the walk will be the clubs table in the Botany Hall at 10 am. Due to the restrictions at the site only registered Scientists and Experts can actually pick specimens for analysis. We plan on taking a walk around area and you will either need to ask La Monte to pick the specimen for difficult to identify species or identify and note the species name of more common species. You can also take a picture of the specimens with your phone camera and La Monte and other volunteers will attempt to identify the species from the image.
