In the morning a mushroom education class was held with lectures in the use if iNaturalist with Julie Travaglini and identification of Morels with Cara Coulter. In the second half the class learnt the basics of cultivation from Espo Wilcox from PA Mushroom Company and inoculated a grow bag with Wine Cap spawn. Each attendee also got to take home a pre-inoculated Hericium grow bag.

After the mushroom education class the club took a walk in Ohio Township community park. We found a number of seasonal species including both Sarcoscypha austriaca and Sarcoscypha dudleyi, as confirmed by club mycologist Cara Coulter using a microscope on site. Alas we didn’t find any morels.
