“Black Friday” mushroom walk to benefit Camp Guyasuta
Date(s) - 11/23/2018
10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Camp Guyasuta, Sharpsburg, PA
Meet WPMC Officers and Identifiers at the second parking lot. The event is free, but cash donations will be collected to assist the camp with its flood repair efforts.
Our original Black Friday walks at Hartwood acres were inspired by the REI #optoutside initiative. This year it will be held at Camp Guyasuta. Camp Guyasuta experienced extensive damage due to this year’s floods. Three bridges were completely destroyed, and two more were damaged. Many trees were uprooted, and they downed many light poles supplying power. Mud flowed down the hillside and into the swimming pool and shelters. The biggest loss occurred when mudslides shifted ground along the hills. The Camp is partially covered by insurance, but most of the damage was not paid for. Many activities in mid-summer through September had to be canceled.

We request that no one hunts a walk or foray location for at least two weeks prior to a walk or foray. It is only through your cooperation that we can have successful walks and forays. All walks & forays will be held rain or shine. Come 15-30 min early and socialize. All walks start on time, so be early, if you are late we will already be in the woods.
