Meet Gary Lincoff for a pre-foray walk at Cook Forest State Park.
The 8,500-acre Cook Forest State Park lies in scenic northwestern Pennsylvania. Once called the “Black Forest,” the area is famous for its stands of old growth forest. Cook Forest’s “Forest Cathedral” of towering white pines and hemlocks is a National Natural Landmark.

Return to the bus for a short drive to a local restaurant for lunch. Afternoon walk with a park ranger to visit the “Forest Cathedral” of towering white pines and hemlocks. So if we just drive up on our own to join in – would that be welcome, or a problem?
The walk at Cook Forest State Park scheduled for Friday, September 18, is sold out, including both the bus trip and self-drive/walk-only options. Registration is now closed for Friday’s events. Please contact Barbara DeRiso, Foray Chair: 412-252-2594, Lincoff [email protected], for standby places.
There will be close to 100 people in total on this walk. Because of this we have chosen not to accept anymore registrations for the walk. We wish to keep the day enjoyable for all, easy to manage, and with a suitable guest to mycologists/identifiers ratio.
