I became more interested in mushrooms when I found morels growing in the backyard of my new house. After joining the club I have been sucked into the world of mycology. Since then I have combined my passions of science and mycology and started a DNA barcoding initiative.

A at the last meeting you gave out spores and cotton seed hulls. We have everything mixed and are waiting for the first mushrooms to appear. My question is about how long should it take? Do we need to cut holes in the bag?
I have finally posted slides and instructions from the meeting on the website. It will take about 14 days before the first mushrooms appear. Yes, you can cut holes in the bag once the mycelium has taken over the substrate and made a solid mass. You may also need to cut holes where mushrooms start to bulge out from the solid mass.
