As luck would have it Saturdays walk was the coldest day since last winter, at approximately 20F at 10am. Fourteen hardy mushroom hunters braved the cold to see what we could find. The previous week had been above freezing and wet so there have been quite a few late fall mushrooms popping up. They were all flash frozen on Friday ready for our enjoyment on Saturday morning! As you can see from the list we found quite a few species including many fleshy mushrooms, some of them quite large too. We finished the walk a bit earlier than normal as everyone’s feet were getting cold. I found a bonus in my pictures, a little orange springtail that I think is Sminthurinus henshawi.
Species list entered by Richard Jacob and identified on the go as it was too cold for an ID table at the end of the walk..
