Walk leader Dick Dougall. On a rather dreary day a small group of mushroom hunters, a mixture of beginners and more experienced hands, meet at Hartwood acres manor parking lot having successfully navigated the Saxonburg boulevard road closure. The wet weather is a mushroom hunters friend and we expected to find a variety of late spring and early summer mushrooms. Over 20 species were identified including an early Russula, Russula vinacea. There were slightly too many Little Brown Mushrooms (LBM’s) that were still unidentified at the end of the walk but we hope to figure out what they are later on. Also of interest was an unidentified gray/light brown cup mushroom. Any ideas let us know!
