Walk leader Adam Haritan led the group for a stroll in the beautiful Todd Nature Reserve. After all the rain last week the park was very wet and the creek was flowing high and fast. A lot of fresh jelly fungus was found and there was a perfusion of Panellus stipticus (Luminescent Panellus orbitter oyster) on the decaying log but very few  other gilled species. We also found identifiable remains of last years fruiting bodies for quite a few species. A new find for the club was Dacrymyces capitatus a jelly fungus. The small orange pillows were dotted over a number of fallen branches ad attached by a small stem. We confirmed the ID with microscopic analysis of the spores and basidia.

Comments:
Apparently the wood ear species Auricularia auricula is only found in Europe and the American species is Auricularia americana. We haven’t changed the name yet but it something we will review.
Hormomyces aurantiacus, the anamorph stage of Tremella mesenterica was also found.
