Walk leader and presenter Bob Sleigh, with Friends of the Parks organizer Bob Rittle . A large turnout, 110 people, at the Pine Ridge lodge to see a presentation on Morels. Bob Sleigh gave an engaging presentation on Morel hunting, with lots of tips to help newcomers, followed by a good question and answer session. The Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club was delighted to award Bob Sleigh the ButtonID identifier badge at the event. Bob’s knowledge of mushrooms has surpassed 250 species. After the presentation we searched the immediate area for morels and found a few older half-free specimens. It looks like many had fruited early this year. Bob Sleigh then lead the group to anther area of the park and a hike over the mountain. A number of mature black morels were found much to the delight of the first time morel hunters.
