The Halloween Walk was extremely fun. We were so lucky to have such a great group with us this day. We gave out candy and cookies. Some of our members even dressed up! The area we walked in was a Hemlock dominated area near a creek, and it did not disappoint. We found a plethora of rare and uncommon fungi. Though we were not allowed to bring specimens to a table, we were able to talk about the species as we found them. This gave the walk a more personal, and educational feel. As for some highlights, we found some gorgeous Cuphophyllus lacmus, a beautiful woodwax. Beth Dinger found some beautiful Mycena pura and a very interesting Hymenoscyphus. A very rarely recorded Scytinotus violaceofulvus, was found by Pete Woods. Pete also found some puffballs that were infected with a red fungus called Epicoccum nigrum. We found Typhula erythropus, Macrotyphula juncea, some very thin rarely found club fungi. With so many wonderful, and interesting finds it was truly a delight!
